Marbling Art “Suminagashi”

Marbling art ”Sumingashi” is a painting technique in which paints are floated on the surface of the water and the patterns are transferred to paper.

It is said that Turkey originated, but no official record remains and it is unknown.

naomaria fascinated by this marble. She begins to study Turkish marble art “Ebru” in earnest in order to use marble patterns in her works.  She creates a marble pattern every day, and she is increasingly conscious of color.

“Ebru” requires a lot of specialized materials. She continues to make marble art with commercial kits while she is not yet ready to make “Ebru” at her atelier. She feels unsatisfactory to follow the instructions provided with the commercial kit. She has begun an attempt at “how much of the technology learned at “Ebru” can be replicated in a commercial kit?” and then, she came up with a textbook.  Textbook will available in Feb., 2020. (Japanese only, so far)
